After Sen. Bill Frist passed a law that stymied online poker for millions of Americans in 2006, many online poker rooms stopped offering U.S. action. But for those sites that continued to offer play to Americans, the repercussions have been minimal since the initial onslaught of arrests. So minimal that many of the online sites who stopped are considering a return to U.S. action. Doyle’s Room.com has already returned stateside, and it’s rumoured that even PartyPoker.com has plans to re-enter the U.S. poker market.
Poker information sites like UnitedStatesofPoker.blogspot.com have been informing American poker players all along that playing poker on the internet is not illegal in the U.S. These laws only made it more difficult to perform banking transactions with online banks that do business with online gaming sites. UnitedStatesofPoker.blogspot.com and other similar-type sites have all the information American players need to play online without getting hassled.

The blogosphere and online betting were made for one another. Concerned gamblers pay attention to the industry’s ongoing legal developments; many write blogs, some with a sound journalistic basis. On the flip side, online books are populated by betting blogs – again, some with a sound journalistic basis.
Online betting and blogging are information markets. There is no physical product being offered; information and money change hands, but no merchandise. Knowledge is power, and there are sharp bloggers as well as handicappers. They play fantasy sports, they bet online, and they’re good at it because they’re informed.
Both blogs and online sports betting thrive in the 24-hour media world. Information has to be captured, sorted, and just as quickly forgotten once the game starts, because it’s old news. Except when the news is about the industry itself. Conventional sports media treat gambling as a vice; it’s up to bloggers to provide the other half of the story.
