Casino Comps Coming to a Close?

Could it be true? With more people than ever going to casinos regularly, Atlantic City casinos have started to take perks away from their customers. It’s true that the revenues for the casinos are down because of out-of-state slots parlors, but if they start to take away the things that bring in the regulars, it’s only going to get worse.

Atlantic City casino perks used to start before you even get there. It was nothing to get a free meal and a roll of quarters just for getting on a bus to Atlantic City. Now there is little available in the way of freebies at all.

Most of the casinos feel that the slowdown justifies cutting back on giveaways to help the bottom line; others feel that a slow period is when freebies are needed most. I can’t see how making the casinos less appealing will increase revenues in the future.
