Red Dog Poker is not as popular as it used to be. There are not as many land-based casinos that have the game anymore, but it can be found quite easily online. It was once a semi-popular game that I recall playing with friends more than in a casino. We called it “in betweens” and the version we played could cost you your shirt in a hurry.
The casino version pays out different odds depending on the spread of the two post cards. The house edge is 3.155% so it’s not the worst bet in the house, but there aren’t many professional Red Dog players. I consider the game a fun option when I want to sit and not have to think about playing very much. It’s not a game I would play with regularity, and I would look to walk away from any session where I double my buy-in.

1. Casino keeping a player’s winnings and refunding them their buy-in. Some casinos try and find reasons not to pay out big wins. Some even say that the player was winning too often and they are not going to allow them to play there anymore.
2. Delayed monthly payout system. If you win a big jackpot the casino will sometimes only give you a thousand or so per moth for an extended time.
3. Poor service. Some casinos do not offer 24/7 live service. Many of the more reputable casinos provide great service options; beware the ones that don’t.
4. Loneliness of play. The online casino never matches the feel of a live gambling house. Online sites are working at improving this every day but they have a long way to go.
5. Over-aggressive marketing campaigns. Some casinos send you ridiculous amounts of promotional materials and emails until it becomes annoying.
